How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Flipwise account. Once enabled, you'll need both your password and a verification code from an authenticator app to sign in, making it much harder for anyone else to access your account.

Before you start

Instead of sending a verification code via Email or Text Message, Flipwise uses an authenticator app, which generates the code locally on your device, meaning it is much more secure and not interceptable by would be hackers.

You'll need an authenticator app installed on your phone. Popular options include:

Setting up 2FA in Flipwise

  1. Click your user profile icon in the top right corner of Flipwise.
  2. Select Your Account from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click Set up two-factor authentication.
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or manually enter the setup key if you can't scan.
  5. Enter the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app to confirm setup.

That's it — 2FA is now active on your account.

Using 2FA

The next time you sign in, you'll be prompted for a verification code after entering your password:

Open the authenticator app on your phone or computer to immediately find the code to enter in. Here's what it looks like in the Google Authenticator app:

The circle to the right is a timer that will refresh the codes periodically, so make sure to use the one you see currently in the app.

Turning off 2FA

If you ever need to disable 2FA, head back to Your Account and select the option to turn off two-factor authentication. We strongly recommend keeping it enabled to protect your account. If you have turned on 2FA and somehow are unable to use it and access your account, please reach out to support@flipwise.app.
