Product Details Terms and Definitions

The Product Detail Page gives you a complete view of everything related to a single item in Flipwise — from how it was listed to how it performed financially. At the top of the page, the Product Details section shows the essential information about the listing itself, including its status, listing type, and key metrics. Below, you’ll find clear definitions for each field and metric shown on this page so you can understand exactly what each value means and how it’s calculated.

  • Status: The status of the item:
    • Scheduled: scheduled to be listed on eBay in the future.
    • Active: actively listed on eBay.
    • Deleted: deleted from your Flipwise inventory.
    • Donated: an item you have donated.
    • Discarded: an item you have discarded.
    • Sold: an item that has sold on a marketplace.
    • Ended: an item that was previously listed on eBay.
    • Out of stock: all units of an item have been sold.
    • Ended with quantity remaining: An item that was previously listed on eBay but no longer is and has one or more units remaining unsold.
    • Unlisted: an item that has not yet been listed on eBay.
  • Listing type: The type of eBay listing: Fixed price (Buy it Now) or Auction.
  • Purchase date: The day you purchased the item.
  • Listed for: How long the item has been listed based on the original list date, excluding any relists.
  • Time to list: The length of time between purchase date and list date..
  • Time to sell: The length of time between list date and sale date.
  • Quantity purchased: How many units of this item you have purchased.
  • Quantity listed: How many units of the item are actively listed on eBay.
  • Quantity unlisted: How many units of the item are not actively listed on eBay (if any).
  • Quantity sold: How many units of the item have been sold on any marketplace (if any).
  • Purchased from: Where you purchased the item from as defined by the Purchase Location.
  • Storage location: Where in your inventory the item is physically stored.
  • Purchase price: How much money you spent to buy the item.
  • Total revenue: All revenue from all sales related to the item, including any logged credits from the Ledger. This only appears if different from the Gross sales value.
  • Gross sales: All revenue from all sales related to the item, excluding any logged credits from the Ledger. Note: Flipwise matches the same formula eBay uses for its annual tax reporting. This means that gross sales do not include sales tax paid by the buyer.
  • Total costs: All expenses related to the item including:
    • Marketplace platform fees - eBay fees, selling fees, etc.
    • Shipping costs - What you paid to ship the item to the buyer..
    • Cost of goods sold (COGS) - Your purchase price for the item
    • Refund amounts - Money refunded to buyers (net of fee refunds).
    • Return shipping costs - Shipping labels for returns.
    • Product expenses - Any expenses you manually added via ledger entries.
    • Other transaction costs - Promotional fees, order adjustments, and miscellaneous transaction-level debits/credits.
  • Net return: Gross sales (or total revenue) minus total costs.
  • ROI: Your return on investment, where investment equals your purchase price including any unsold units. How does Flipwise Calculate ROI?
  • ROI (realized): Your return on investment including only sold items and excluding the purchase price of unsold units. This only appears when you have unsold inventory that causes the realized value to differ from the regular value.
  • Net Return (realized): The sum of net return for all units that have sold. This only appears when you have unsold inventory that causes the realized value to differ from the regular value.
  • Net profit margin: The percentage that shows how much of your revenue you actually keep as profit after all expenses are paid. How does Flipwise calculate Net return?
