Can I mark a product in my inventory as donated?
If a product in your inventory did not sell for any reason and has be pulled from inventory and donated, you can mark that product as "donated" which will pull it from your list of active products and place it in a special list of "Donated" products.
This is helpful when you have items in your inventory that were donated and you want to retain the associated costs for tax purposes later. Items that are marked as donated will show up under the "Donated" view accessible in the navigation under "Inventory."
To mark a product as donated, find the action menu on the product detail page and select "mark as donated."
Not all products can be marked as donated:
- A product with an active eBay listing must first have that listing ended before it can be marked as donated.
- A sold product can only be marked as donated if the sale was returned or canceled. A sold product with a non-cancelled and non-returned order cannot be marked as donated, because presumably it is no longer in your possession as it has been sold to a buyer.
- A multi-quantity product can only be marked as donated if it has no orders or if all of its orders are cancelled or returned.
How to mark a product as donated that was never listed on eBay
If you have an item in your inventory that was never listed on eBay, but needs to be marked as donated, you can add that item to your Unlisted inventory, then mark it as donated using the instructions above. Read more: How to add your unlisted inventory to Flipwise.
Important: Flipwise will retain your items in its inventory forever, even if you delete the listing from eBay. The only time an item will be deleted from your Flipwise inventory is if you explicitly choose to delete it. However, Flipwise does not act as a back up of your listings.
